Bring a recent decision into focus. Examine a provision. Develop an argument that helps readers understand Bangladesh’s law.

Submit a contribution

Contributions with a clear legal purpose.

The collection follows recent legal developments as a continuing academic inquiry. A useful contribution identifies a question, works closely with the primary materials and explains why its reasoning matters.

Judgment and case notes

Usually 1,000–2,000 words

Examine a recent decision through its material facts, legal issues, reasoning and use of precedent. Explain the scope of the holding and the questions it leaves open. Notes on decisions across the recent caseload contribute to our aim of systematic coverage.

Legislation notes

Usually 1,000–2,500 words

Read a recent law, amendment, rule or other instrument closely. Identify the relevant text and version, explain the change and assess its interpretation or practical legal consequences.

Critical legal analysis

Usually 1,200–3,000 words

Develop a focused argument about a legal question, a line of decisions or the relationship between provisions. Engage with relevant authorities and the strongest competing interpretation.

Responses and research notes

Usually 600–1,200 words

Respond to a published argument, identify a significant source or explain a narrowly defined research finding. Source notes may be shorter where a clear account and a traceable document are sufficient.

These are indicative lengths, excluding footnotes. A longer contribution may be proposed where the question warrants it. Submissions may be in English or Bangla.

Make the argument
and its sources clear.

Start with a working title and a short account of the question you address. A proposal is welcome when you want to establish the scope before preparing a complete manuscript.

The full editorial standards
Primary materials
Identify the judgment, legislation or other authority. Include the relevant court, date, case number, citation or instrument details and source links where available.
Reasoning and references
Distinguish the source, the court’s holding and your assessment. Use consistent legal citations with page or paragraph pinpoints. OSCOLA-style footnotes are welcome.
Originality and fair assessment
Acknowledge other authors, represent opposing positions fairly and check quotations. Explain any previous publication, simultaneous consideration or relevant professional involvement.
Author responsibility
Confirm co-author approval and the right to share the material. Disclose substantive generative or automated assistance, and verify every authority against its source.

How a contribution moves forward.

  1. Fit and initial assessment

The editorial assessment considers the question, relevance to the collection, source availability and the proposed contribution to the discussion.

  2. Source checks and revision

A draft may need clearer references, further engagement with authority or a narrower conclusion. Revision is part of developing a reliable argument. Any external peer-review process should be identified expressly.

  3. Decision and publication arrangements

Receipt confirms that the submission has been stored for editorial review. Publication requires an editorial decision and confirmation of the final text and arrangements with the author.

Review time depends on the scope of the work and the checks required. Use the reference supplied after submission when following up with editor@ain.bd.

Authorship and permission

Submitting gives ain.bd permission to store and assess the work and contact you about it. Authors retain their copyright unless a separate agreement provides otherwise. Attribution and any publication licence should be confirmed before publication.

Manuscript or revision

Before and after you submit.

Can I send an idea before writing the full piece?

Yes. Select Proposal, provide a working title, explain your question and proposed argument, and identify the principal authorities. A full manuscript is optional at that stage.

How do I send a Word document or PDF?

Provide a manuscript link with the necessary viewing permission, or email the file to editor@ain.bd. If you have already used the form, put your submission reference in the email subject. This form accepts text and links rather than file attachments.

Can I submit work that has appeared elsewhere?

Explain where and when it appeared, whether it is under consideration elsewhere and what permission you hold to republish or adapt it. The editor can assess the circumstances before deciding whether to proceed.

How do I send a revision or withdraw a submission?

For a revision, select Revised submission and include the earlier reference. Describe the changes in the summary. To withdraw, email the editor with that reference so the request can be checked and the record updated.

Will submission publish my work automatically?

No. The form saves the material for editorial assessment. Publication requires a separate decision and agreement on the final text, attribution and publication arrangements.

How do I follow up?

Email editor@ain.bd with the reference shown after submission. Review time depends on the question, the length of the work and the source checks required.
