Terms
of use
The conditions for using ain.bd, referring to its material and submitting work or correspondence.
Last updated
Understand the role of the material.
ain.bd examines Bangladesh’s laws and judgments as a continuing academic inquiry.
These terms concern use of the website and its research material. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the team operating ain.bd. Separate written terms may apply to a particular contribution, permission or service.
Our articles, summaries, annotations and other commentary are for research and general information. They do not provide advice on an individual matter. Reading an entry, sending a message or submitting a document does not create a lawyer–client relationship or an agreement to act for you.
Before relying on a legal proposition, check the full primary authority, the relevant version and any later developments. For decisions about an actual case or legal obligation, obtain advice appropriate to the facts. Our coverage information explains the collection’s developing scope.
Use and credit material accurately.
You may link to ain.bd entries and refer readers to their sources. When quoting or discussing an analysis, identify its author, title, publication date and URL where available. Keep quotations accurate and distinguish the author’s assessment from a court’s reasoning or the words of legislation.
Rights in original articles, editorial material and design remain with their respective rights holders. Unless an item carries a stated licence or you have permission, these terms do not grant a general right to republish, translate, distribute or commercially reproduce that material. Any use permitted by applicable law remains available.
Judgments, legislation, gazettes, images and other source documents may have a different rights position from our commentary. Preservation or linking does not make ain.bd the owner of those materials or give us authority to license rights belonging to someone else. Check the source and any applicable reuse conditions.
For republication or other permission, write to editor@ain.bd, identifying the material, intended use, format and audience. If you believe material on ain.bd infringes a right, provide the entry link, the basis of your claim and contact details so that we can examine it.
Submit material you are entitled to share.
Provide accurate contact details and submit only material you are authorised to share. A contribution should acknowledge its sources, identify relevant interests and disclose substantive automated assistance as required by our editorial standards. Obtain any necessary permission from co-authors or other rights holders.
Do not send confidential client documents, restricted court material, identity documents, passwords or unnecessary personal information. A public judgment may still contain information that needs care or anonymisation.
Our Contact, Contribute and Corrections forms save submissions for private review. Sending a form does not publish its contents, guarantee a reply, secure acceptance or require a particular editorial outcome. A correction report prompts assessment; it does not automatically alter an entry.
Submitting a manuscript does not transfer copyright or grant a general publication licence. Publication permission, editing arrangements, attribution and any other applicable terms should be agreed separately before publication. See the contribution guidance for preparation and submission details.
The privacy policy explains how correspondence and submission details are handled. You may ask to withdraw an unpublished submission by contacting the editor and quoting its reference where available.
Keep access useful for other readers.
Use the website lawfully and respect other people’s rights. In particular:
- Do not attempt unauthorised access to accounts, private submissions, administration systems or other protected information.
- Do not submit malicious code, spam, impersonations, threats or material that unlawfully discloses another person’s information.
- Do not overload the service, evade security controls or use automated requests in a way that disrupts access. Contact us before arranging substantial or repeated bulk retrieval.
- Do not alter an extract or present an ain.bd entry in a way that misleadingly implies endorsement, official status or a different conclusion.
We may restrict requests or access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, protect information or keep the service available. Such action does not determine the merits of a legal argument or a good-faith criticism of our work.
Check the source and the date.
The collection grows as documents become available and entries are prepared. It is not a complete statement of all judgments, legislation or subsequent legal developments. A preserved text records a particular copy or version; its continued availability does not establish that it remains current.
External links lead to publications or services controlled by others. Their availability, content, security and privacy practices are outside our control. A link identifies a source or provides context; it does not by itself endorse everything published there.
We may update, correct, replace or withdraw material in accordance with our editorial standards. Access may be interrupted by maintenance or technical problems, and we cannot promise uninterrupted service or permanent availability of every link or file.
If you identify an error, missing source or later development, use the corrections form. Explain the issue and provide the relevant authority where possible.
An entry supports research.
It needs to be checked.
We work towards accurate sources and reasoned analysis. Legal texts and their interpretation can change, and an academic account may be incomplete or contested.
- No guarantee of a legal outcome
- The website does not warrant that an analysis will be accepted by a court, apply to your facts or identify every relevant authority.
- Limits on responsibility
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not accept liability for loss caused by treating general research material as individual legal advice or by relying on an unchecked version or external source.
- Rights remain protected
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, waives a mandatory legal right or removes an obligation imposed by applicable law.
Read the current terms.
Subject to any mandatory rights or rules that apply in a particular case, these terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh. A dispute may be brought before a court with lawful jurisdiction. You may contact us first to explain a concern and seek a practical resolution; doing so does not restrict a right to seek a legal remedy.
We may revise these terms as the publication develops. The date above identifies the latest revision. A material change should be explained, and a new purpose requiring permission or a separate agreement will not be authorised merely by changing this page. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply to the extent permitted by law.
