How information is handled when you use ain.bd, contact the publication or submit material for editorial review.

The publication and its readers.
The ain.bd publication team handles the information supplied in running this website, receiving correspondence and assessing contributions or correction reports. This policy covers those activities and information used in maintaining the research collection.
Our privacy contact is info@ain.bd. Editorial privacy concerns can also be sent to editor@ain.bd. External publications and services have their own practices, even when a link to them appears on ain.bd.
What you send and what a visit involves.
The information in a submission depends on the form and the details you choose to include. Required fields are marked on each form. Without those details, the form cannot complete the submission.
| Route | Information received |
|---|---|
| Contact | Your name, email address, reason for writing, subject and message, with a relevant link if provided. |
| Corrections | Your name and email, the affected entry, report type, proposed correction and supporting explanation, with any passage, source link or earlier reference you provide. |
| Contribute | Author and contact details, contribution type, stage, language, title, summary, authorities, manuscript text or link and declarations. Optional details can include affiliation, co-authors and a biography. |
The submission record also includes its receipt date and an internal reference where issued. Administrators may add review status and internal notes. The forms accept text and links; files sent separately by email are handled through the receiving email service.
Technical information
Serving a website involves receiving connection information. Requested page addresses, search terms in a URL, IP addresses, timestamps and browser details can appear in hosting or security logs. Avoid entering confidential details in the website search.
The forms use a short-lived code derived from an IP address to limit repeated submissions, and a separate check to recognise identical submissions. The form code does not store a raw IP address in the private message record. This does not mean that hosting or security services cannot record it independently.
Use information for the reason it is received.
Information supplied through the forms is used to understand and respond to correspondence, assess a contribution, verify a correction or source, communicate about the review and maintain the related editorial record. Technical information supports delivery of the website, troubleshooting and protection against abuse.
Only information relevant to those purposes should be supplied or retained. Do not include another person’s private details unless they are needed and you are entitled to provide them. Sending a message is not permission to add you to an unrelated marketing list or publish your private correspondence.
Where processing requires consent, that consent must relate to a stated purpose and be capable of withdrawal. You may withdraw permission by writing to us. Withdrawal can affect our ability to continue a review or reply, but does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Any continued retention or use must have a lawful basis.
A submission is
not a public post.
Sending the Contact, Contribute or Corrections form saves a private record. It does not publish your message, email address or manuscript on the website.
- Editorial access
- The dashboard inbox is restricted to site administrators. Relevant information may be used for the review you requested. Any wider review arrangement must respect the stated purpose, confidentiality and applicable consent requirements.
- Technical services
- Hosting, email, backup or maintenance providers may process information as needed to support the publication. Appropriate access limits and safeguards are required; private review status does not prevent authorised technical access to the underlying system.
- Publication and legal duties
- Publication of an accepted contribution and its author details is a separate editorial arrangement. Disclosure may also be necessary to meet a lawful obligation or address a legal claim, subject to applicable law.
Understand what your browser sends.
WordPress can use functional cookies for sign-in and preferences. The Contact, Contribute and Corrections forms do not themselves set a persistent visitor-tracking cookie. This statement concerns those forms; it is not a claim that every part of the website or its infrastructure is cookie-free.
You can inspect, delete or restrict cookies through your browser. Blocking functional cookies may affect sign-in or other features. A privacy notice alone is not consent to optional tracking: where a service requires consent, that choice must be provided separately before the relevant technology is used.
Following an external link or opening a linked manuscript takes you to a service with its own privacy terms. If third-party content is embedded in an entry, loading it may send connection information to its provider. Review the provider’s notice before interacting with it.
Where information is processed
Processing locations depend on the hosting, email and other services used to operate the publication; they should not be assumed to be in Bangladesh. Any international transfer must meet applicable requirements. You may ask our privacy contact about the recipients and processing locations relevant to your information.
Different records have different lifetimes.
- Stored submissions
- Messages, reports and unpublished contributions stay in the private inbox until an administrator deletes them. The inbox has no automatic deletion deadline. Retention must remain connected to correspondence, review, a justified editorial record or a legal requirement.
- Temporary form data
- Failed-form feedback is valid for up to ten minutes and is consumed when displayed. Spam and duplicate checks generally expire ten to fifteen minutes after the relevant activity. Expired database entries may remain until routine cleanup removes them.
- Trash and backups
- Moving a record to Trash is not permanent deletion. Copies may remain in backups until the applicable backup cycle removes them. Deleting a live record does not instantly erase every backup or a separately received email.
- Other records
- Published articles, correction notices, email correspondence and technical logs have different purposes. Ask us about the retention basis and arrangements for a particular record rather than assuming the form’s short-term expiry rules apply to it.
You may request deletion or an explanation of continued retention. Where a record must be retained, the reason and any relevant limits should be explained in accordance with applicable law. Information should not be kept merely because storage is available.
Public sources still require care.
Judgments, legislation and other sources can identify individuals or describe sensitive circumstances. Their availability online does not remove the need to consider accuracy, anonymisation, reporting restrictions and the relevance of personal details to an academic account.
If published material creates a privacy concern, identify the entry and the information at issue without repeating unnecessary sensitive details. We will assess the source, the research context, the rights involved and any applicable restriction. Depending on the issue, an appropriate response may include correction, anonymisation, restricted access or removal.
Use the corrections form or write directly to editor@ain.bd. A request concerning a research entry is considered separately from a request to delete private correspondence.
Ask about your information.
Subject to applicable law, you may ask about the information held about you, request access or a copy, seek correction or deletion, object to processing or withdraw consent. Portability or other remedies may also be available where the law provides them. This policy does not limit those rights.
Write to info@ain.bd using the email address associated with your correspondence where possible. State your request and include any submission reference or entry link. We may need proportionate verification before disclosing or changing information. Please do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are needed and agree an appropriate method.
Requests should be addressed within the period and procedure required by applicable law. If a request cannot be met in full, the response should explain the reason and any available review route. You may seek a remedy or complain to the competent authority where applicable; contacting us does not waive that right.
For the Bangladesh statutory framework, see the Personal Data Protection Act, 2026 ↗ (opens in a new tab). The availability and exercise of a particular right depend on the applicable provisions and circumstances.
Share only what is needed.
The forms include validation, restricted dashboard access and basic protections against repeated or automated abuse. These measures do not make a public website an appropriate channel for confidential case files or guarantee complete security of every transmission or stored record.
If you believe information has been exposed or misdirected, contact info@ain.bd promptly with enough detail to identify the issue. Do not include passwords or unnecessary copies of the affected information.
Readers under 18 should ask a parent or legal guardian to contact us before providing personal information through the submission forms. Appropriate guardian consent is required where applicable. If information about a child has been supplied without the necessary permission, contact us so the matter can be assessed.
Keep the notice aligned with the service.
This policy should be updated when relevant processing practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes should be explained, and any new use requiring consent needs that permission separately. A revision to this page does not by itself authorise an unrelated use of information already supplied.
